Dick and Jane Carne are native Georgians. Dick was born in Milledgeville, and Jane in the Jonesboro/Morrow area. Dick's father was a school principal and a retired Reserve Army Colonel. At the early age of 9, Dick pestered his parents for a Model T go cart which was later traded for a mail truck's running gear. By age 12, the father and son team was working on their first Model A, a 1931 Sport Coupe, and soon after a cosmetic redo of a 1930 Tudor. Later they began full-scale restorations of their 1929 Phaeton, a Mail Truck and a 1928 roadster. After High School graduation, Dick received multiple Law degrees from Georgia State University and the Atlanta Law School. As his career progressed after graduation in 1981, primarily working with Credit Unions, and more recently with commercial bank lending, his interest in Model A's never flagged. His most recent restoration is a 1929 Fordor, converted into a Town Sedan. He worked closely with nephew, Jason, and Tom Miller in the restoration of the woodwork. Together, Dick and Jane, an elementary school teacher in Tyrone, have three children, Andrew; Cynthia who, with husband Eric, own a 1930 Fordor; and Natalie. Dick receives great enjoyment from working on their cars. What keeps him interested in the Model A community - "the people, the cars, touring and our club activities."
