James was born in Fayette County. The son of a farmer, he learned mechanics and how to repair just about anything as part of tne necessities of life on the farm. He bought his first car, a 1936 Chevrolet, in 1956 at age 13. From his early years, he always liked Model A’s, probably related to his cousin who had been a member of MARC back into the 1950’s. Presently, he has two Model A’s, a 1930 Coupe and a 1930 Pickup. He learned about the Southside A’s from his friends, Tom Romine and Ken Turner. He enjoys club activities and anything to do with Model A Fords.
