Joe and Betty met when he was in naval Pilot training in Pensacola Fla. Betty had a flat tire in her Dads 1955 Plymouth at a Ice Cream store in Brewton Ala., and he changed the flat. They were married the day after he earned his wings as a Naval Aviator Nov . 17th , 1962. Joe served during the Vietnam conflict and left the Navy to fly for Delta Air lines 33 years. Joe and Betty raised 3 sons on a farm at Haralson Georgia and in 1986 moved off the farm to LaGrange Georgia. He started a Rental car business and Betty became Director of Downtown Development in LaGrange and was heavily involved in the 1996 Olympic Games. They have 5 Grandchildren. Joes interest was started in Tulare Calif, his hometown, driving a Model AA truck picking up baled hay out of the fields at the age of 11. He could barely see over the dash and sat on a special cushion to reach the clutch etc. The model A is special to growing up on the dairy farm and now Betty and Joe enjoy the friends and comradery of owning a Model A.
