On April 5th we have a treat planned — to visit club member Tommy Davis’s home in Senoia to see his wonderful car collection. Tommy has a variety of cars that includes his own, as well as a changing array of automobiles for sale. He has also collected automobilia over the years, making for a fun and unique display. After our visit we will take a drive to nearby Williamson for lunch at Barnstormer’s Grill at the Peachstate Airport. We’re getting there on the early side, hoping to avoid the lunchtime rush. And we’ll likely be able to enjoy seeing various take-offs and landings from the private air enthusiasts who frequent the airport.
Our next Tech Meet will be April 12th at Jim Hunter’s Garage. With the beginning of the Touring Season just around the corner, it would be nice to make sure you know what to do to your car to get her ready. Who knows what you may want to do, or where you may want to go. So let’s get them ready. So I am concentrating, this month, on ‘A’ Spring Check-up. I’m looking for a car that we can look at, make some adjustments to and get ready to Tour. My requirements are… A car that maybe is not driven much, but WANTS to be. One that, the owner wants to join in for some of our fun (as you know we go on lunch tours, one day tours and overnight tours). Please respond as soon as possible so we can put this Tech Meet together. Now this meet will be the same as the previous ones. To be held at Jim Hunter’s garage: 599 Bankstown Road, Brooks, GA 30205. We will have Coffee n’ Donuts, most likely Pizza for lunch, training and fellowship, all the very low cost of $10.00. We start at 9:30 and try to be finished by 2:00. It’s Spring. Flowers are in bloom. Join us on Tuesday, April 22nd for a slow country road drive to Pine Mountain for lunch at the San Marcos Mexican Restaurant followed by a visit to Callaway Gardens to enjoy the beautiful azalea blooms as well as a visit to the butterfly center. We will finish the day with a stop at Lubell’s Ice Cream Parlor where you can enjoy your choice of an ice cream refresher before you begin your drive home. Niva and Terry Atkins are organizing this tour, including purchasing the Callaway tickets, for which we will reimburse them that day. The fee is $20/per person. Folks from the LaGrange area will meet at the restaurant. Those coming from the Fayetteville/Peachtree City/Newnan environs can join a caravan from Sam’s Club, Sharpsburg, led by the Shotwells. DATE: Tuesday, April 22. GATHER: Sam’s Club, Fischer Rd & Hwy 34, Sharpsburg TIME: 10am for a 10:15 departure. We plan to arrive at the restaurant at 11:30.
