Well, we (the Shotwells) decided to make a change from our original May Lunch Bunch plan. We’ll visit Fitzgerald Farms and the Warm Springs Winery at the Shed at another time, possibly a specialized tour for wine tasting….
BUT, we’re excited to take the club to a new venue, Doodlum’s Barbecue & Fruit Stand in Woodbury. They aren’t far from the Blackbird Café, to give you an idea of the location. It’s a roomy place with a large and varied menu. The staff we spoke with were super friendly and are looking forward to our coming. And after lunch, we go out the door into the Fruit Stand where they offer free samples of things like watermelon and pink (yes, pink!) pineapple, yum! Besides fruits, they have boiled peanuts (love ‘em, or hate ‘em, I know), a variety of sweets as well as condiments, pickles, etc. Plus, they have ice cream, snow cones and shakes. Out front they have a long porch with rocking chairs to enjoy our desserts. All in all, a fun place.
